- When you call 911, the person answering the phone is a police and fire dispatcher. It’s important that you stay calm and answer all the questions the dispatcher asks you so he or she can send help fast.
- A dispatcher will listen to you and uses the radio to call a police officer or firefighter. The dispatcher will tell the officer or firefighter where the emergency is and what kind of help you need.
- Only call 911 for emergencies and immediate help. Do not play and call 911 — it is not a toy.
